Career Opportunities

Harmony Hill School a private, non-profit residential, educational treatment facility is currently seeking dedicated individuals that are looking for a rewarding Clinical position. Must be licensed!


$5,000.00 Sign-on Bonus

PLUS receive a Monthly Stipend in addition to your regular pay up to $694.00 additional per month through 12/31/2022.

And a flexible schedule that allows one day per week to work remotely.

Our team of clinicians works collaboratively to find the best treatment options for our male youth aged 8-18. The clinician will run individual, family and group counseling for our residential students with a variety of barriers to community placement including; substance use disorders, problem sexual behaviors, trauma, severe and persistent mental health disorders. The clinician acts as a collaborator between students, relatives, medical staff, educational staff and youth care staff as well as outside stakeholders as needed.


Responsibilities of a Licensed Clinician:

  • Responsible for case management and coordination of therapeutic services.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director on individual case management.
  • Identifying issues and create goals and treatment plans
  • Teach students coping mechanisms
  • Providing updates and progress reports to courts and other agencies
  • Design and implement aftercare plans


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with Licensure (LCSW-CT, LICSW, LMHC)
  • 3 years of relevant experience working with youth with behavioral/mental health challenges and/or developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Experience and or training in a human service field/mental health is required.
  • Experience in trauma informed care a plus.
  • Good communication, interacting well with others in a team environment, understanding and following rules and directions from supervisor is a must.
  • All training is available on site. Must be able to pass our physical intervention –Safety Care training.
  • All candidates must clear Rhode Island state as well as federal background checks.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a valid, non-suspended, non-expired driver license and a good driving record.
  • All staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of hire

  • $5,000.00 Sign-on bonus– Paid at select intervals throughout the employee’s first year of employment.
  • Receive a monthly stipend in addition to your regular pay of up to $694/ month for each month the youth care employee works up through December 31, 2022. The monthly stipend amount will vary depending upon how many hours the employee works each month.
  • A flexible schedule at 37.5 hours per week for full-time.
  • 7.5 hour days Monday – Friday with one day per week of remote work.

Now hiring Youth Care Professionals for our newly expanded


Intensive Stabilization, Assessment and Treatment Program (ISAT)


ISAT Assistant Counselors and ISAT Counselors earn a starting rate between $22.00/hour and $25.00/hour.


Plus earn a $2,000.00 Sign-On Bonus  


Working in our ISAT units is a challenging but, reward filled experience.  The units are semi-secure dormitories for 5-8 male youth ages 13-18.   Each unit has a high staff-to-student ratio.  The youth that we serve are faced with the toughest of life circumstances and exhibit excesses as well as deficits in their social-emotional development, educational and behavior repertoires.


Other highlights include; 24-hour crisis intervention, special education services, screening and assessment to develop appropriate treatment plans, frequent therapeutic sessions with a licensed professional and rapid evaluation of and promotion of appropriate treatment plans tailored to the youth’s specific needs.


Essential Duties:

Our ISAT assistant counselors and ISAT counselors work directly with our youth providing behavior management, accountability, teaching problem solving skills and acting as a mentor.

Maintain a therapeutic environment by: supervising youth, ensuring and promoting a safe and positive environment effectively caring for, supervising, counseling, and managing crises and emergencies.

Counselors demonstrate therapeutic treatment techniques, and use crisis intervention techniques effectively, and counseling/teaching e.g., in life skills

Observe and promptly respond to behavioral issues, adhere to safety standards and encourage healthy living habits, listen and problem solve to provide a safe, secure, and positive environment for each resident

Enforce daily program schedule, document daily behavior and ensure treatment plans are effectively implemented as directed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program and/or those with relevant equivalent experience of between 3-to-5 years will receive equal consideration.
  • Experience and or training in a human service field/mental health is required.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth in an educational or therapeutic setting is preferred. Experience in trauma informed care a plus.

Position Summary:

The Night Awake Counselor provides awake coverage of the residential dorms each night from approximately 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to assure the security, health, and safety of staff and residents.


Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor the residential dorms during the night and bring any issues that need action (either immediately or at the end of the duty period) to the attention of the appropriate staff as directed.
  • Regularly seek consultation from appropriate supervisory staff, provide detailed information regarding significant issues affecting youth in care, and accept and implement feedback.
  • Follow all policies and procedures in regard to working with youth, i.e. reports, physical restraints, behavioral management techniques, etc.
  • Attend youth care meetings and training as requested.
  • Follow all established emergency procedures as documented in policy and procedure.
  • Record data and complete all necessary routine paperwork as required.
  • Any and all other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to interact well with others in a team environment, understanding and following rules and directions from the supervisor.
  • Experience in the mental health field and/or experience with youth with substance abuse desired.
  • Must be able to accept constructive criticism and to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Must be able to work under stress and work without causing danger or disruption to others.
  • Must be able to maintain satisfactory attendance and be punctual.
  • Must be able to pass our physical intervention –Safety Care training.
  • All candidates must clear Rhode Island state as well as federal background checks.
  • Must have a valid, non-suspended, non-expired driver license and good driving record.

Position Summary:

The Youth Care Assistant Counselor is primarily responsible for the care and supervision of youth residents at the Harmony Hill School in all facets (including physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being) of their daily lives.   Youth Care Assistant Counselors assist youth in the completion of a variety of functional activities and help them to solve problems and make choices based on sound judgment.


Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily supervision of youth residents and being aware of their whereabouts at all times.
  • Guide youth in their interactions, utilizing principles of the Recovery Model and the Enrichment program.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment by supervising youth, ensuring and promoting a safe and positive environment effectively caring for, supervising, counseling, and managing crises and emergencies.
  • Responsible for assisting in assuring that all needs are directly met. Supervising and communicating with youth in a non-judgmental, (caring but firm) manner. Implement the daily program schedule, in addition to organizing and carrying out activities with youth throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all youth identities, records, and information.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with youth and demonstrate/ensure that healthy staff to youth working relationships are maintained. Maintaining courteous and professional relationships with supervisor, co-workers, youth, and outside agency staff.
  • Responsible for managing crisis situations professionally and following agency policies and procedures related to emergencies.
  • Daily implementation of and adherence to assigned treatment plan services for each youth.
  • Observe and promptly respond to behavioral issues, adhere to safety standards and encourage healthy living habits, listen and problem solve to provide a safe, secure, and positive environment for each resident.
  • Daily maintaining complete and accurate records and incident reports.
  • Responsible for daily care of the facility and keeping it clean and in order with the help of the youth.
  • Being present and punctual for all scheduled shifts including weekends and holidays and remaining awake and alert at all times.
  • Serve as a resource person and take on-call duties when designated by the supervisor.
  • Any and all other related tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a High school diploma or general education degree (GED). An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or actively pursuing your degree is preferred.
  • Must be able to interact well with others in a team environment, understanding and following rules and directions from the supervisor.
  • Experience in the mental health field desired.
  • Must be able to pass our physical intervention –Safety Care training.
  • All candidates must clear Rhode Island state as well as federal background checks.
  • Must have a valid, non-suspended, non-expired driver license and a good driving record.
  • All training is available on site.
